Thanksgiving Juice Recipes

Don’t worry – we’re not suggesting you stick a turkey in your juicer.  In fact, no animals were harmed during the making of these recipes.

However, our trio of Thanksgiving Juices consists of smells and tastes that truly  feel like the holidays.   If possible, curl up by the fireplace to help evoke the warm and fuzzy feeling of Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving Juice Recipe

Happy Thanksgiving! A 3-juice celebration:

Appetizer:

(Gazpacho) 2 Roma tomatoes, 1 cucumber, fresh lime juice, fresh dill, garnish with fresh chives

To get the lovely, traditional red of this Spanish classic, peel cucumber before juicing. This recipe works best when the ingredients are pureed in a blender or food processor. (Be sure to cut the dill into your blender with scissors – I learned the hard way that dill can wrap its way around the blades of a blender like seaweed).

Main Course:

1/2 Sweet Potato, 2-3 leaves from a leek stalk, 1 carrot, 1/4″ length of ginger, garnish with allspice

This hearty juice is a delight all year long. The ingredients are easy to find and inexpensive. To get the nice tan color, go easy on the leek leaves. Ginger is a delight in cold weather! I think savory juices are just wonderful, especially during a fast when you’re really hungry.

Dessert:

2 Gala apples, 1/2 stalk fresh rhubarb, garnish with cinnamon

This delicious juice smells a lot like real pie and tastes very festive! Fresh rhubarb is easy to find this time of year, and organic varieties can be found at Whole Foods.

(You may want to cut the rhubarb into small pieces, as it can be tough on your juicer blades. Also, be sure not to juice rhubarb greens – they’re poisonous).
